Love survives mayhem
A fine offering from Helene-lashed region
Their property in a part of Appalachia hard hit by Hurricane Helene was, rather amazingly, spared, but their neighbors suffered enormously. Yet somehow these Bluegrass troubadours have come up with a fine tribute to the one who still rates as king, Elvis Presley.
The Burnett Sisters Band's "Can't Help Falling in Love" is a sensitive, moving reprise of that smash Elvis hit.
Singing on this video are two of the Burnett sisters, Anissa and Anneli, supported by guitarist Geary Allen. Both women are proficient on the fiddle and banjo.
Other band members, who appear in the playlist below, are Sophia Burnett, who plays bass fiddle, and Justin Alexander, who plays banjo and sings.
A fourth sister, Kathleen, was the group’s lead singer and guitarist until marriage prompted her to leave the band.
You'll note as you listen the compelling voice of Allen, whose affinity for the Western North Carolina and East Tennessee region are obvious.

The one and only Macy
Macy marks her first birthday (Oct. 12) with glowing mom Ellen Haygood singing her a lullaby written especially for the occasion by Ellen's sister Katie.
Other bandmates in the video are sister Julianne, who joins Katie on fiddle; brother Matthew on guitar; mother Karen on bass; and Emmett Franz on dobro.
Macy also appeared with the Petersens, a Bluegrass band with global reach, during their European tour in August, as documented in the v-log below.
